John Armitt, Chief Executive of Network Rail will be at Sheffield Hallam on Wednesday 23rd February.

John is to talk about the challenges facing engineers that are as varied, as complex and as vital to our existence as they ever have been and as engineers how we must ensure the industry remains as attractive as possible to new starters.  So how do we continue to make engineering an attractive option for the most talented of our young people?

According to analysis from Sheffield Hallam University and the Rail Industry, maintaining and improving Britain's rail infrastructure requires over 600 new engineers and technicians every year.  Sheffield Hallam University in conjunction with Network Rail have launched a unique new training development initiativefor individuals to fill this vital skills gap.
