 Engineering Interfaces Welcome

Welcome to the Engineering Interfaces section of the RRUK Website.

Theme A: Engineering Interfaces recognises that many of the engineering problems that are of particular importance to railwaysarise at interfaces (e.g. between vehicles and the track system; the track system and the sub-base/sub-structures; or passengers and vehicles).  Addressing engineering problems in this way avoids the compartment= alisationassociated with traditional engineering disciplines and the historically separated infrastructure and vehicle operating responsibilities within the industry.  To find out more CLICK HERE

The current projects within Theme A are:

Previous projects (2003-2006) within Theme A include:

This section of the website also contains details of the Engineering Interfaces Theme Network - a forum for cooperation and collaboration between RRUK researchers and others in industry or academia who possess a relevant interest, knowledge or ability in the area of Engineering Interfaces.  To find out more CLICK HERE

Associated Projects:
Wheel - Rail Interface; Adhesion and Rail Crack Growth Modelling.
Track Stability.
Discrete Element Modelling of Railway Ballast.
An optimised wheel-rail contact model for vehicle dynamics simulation.
